This was the first story I wrote after the pandemic broke out. I wrote it after watching a news item about two women fighting over toilet paper in an LA supermarket. The story was first published in The New York Review of Books, and to make its Substack appearance more special, I asked my sister-in-law Natasha to illustrate it.
