This month’s “Truth or Dare” begins with a broken nose and ends with an almost-haiku on tap dancing.

three-centimetre checkout chick
on your endless journey
to nowhere
/
trapped in a kiosk with no door
a torso-sized bagel
your jailor
/
you wait for plastic passengers
to come buy the bagel
but they won't
/
their yellow heads are rotated
cruelly averted
they don't care
/
though they hide their indifference
with inked-on rictus smiles
clawing air
/
caught between stasis and motion
your life a looping train
