I actually ran into that college boyfriend at 1 a.m. in the local convenience store. He was wearing a black wife-beater and buying four Red Bulls and three packages of Twinkies, flexing a huge bicep with "Brad and Angelina Forever" tattooed on it.
May I suggest two Oldies: The Culture of Narcissism by Christopher Lasch and The Pursuit of Loneliness by Philip Slater. Boy, did they foresee it all.
For some reason, your use of “TMTV™” always made me laugh.
I found myself saying to myself “yes, ok, thats possible, I can see that happening”. So, a kind of non-fiction science-fiction feeling. To me, your writing often is like a warm embrace, a soft song or a kindly expression in the midst of death. I feel strange saying thank you for that but thank you it is nonetheless. Life affirming in a unique way.
I recently had a similar idea about personalised films*. It's very gratifying to see that just this once I've tapped into a shared stream of thought. Pretty ironic though that this happened with this particular subject matter.
