Stay safe. We need voices of calm and sense in a world of increasing insanity.

Dear Mr Keret,

I‘m relieved to read that you and your family are (sort of) safe and unharmed by this rain of Iranian missiles. And, as I too can take from your latest message, I am very glad and delighted to learn that inmidst that current schlamassel this unique kind of softly sarcastic, deeply humane but nevertheless striking Keret type of humor is still alive and kicking. Unable to pray (Atheist, can‘t help, sorry) I keep my fingers crossed as tough as I can that everything I mentioned above shall remain unharmed.

May the ongoing wars, especially that in Gaza, end better yesterday than tomorrow.

May all the hostages still in the hands of Hamas brought home immediately.

May Israel succeed in keeping Iran from posing a threat to its existance now and in every forseeable future.

May all the antisemites and „from-the-river-to-the-sea“idiots go to hell.

May you, after all this has happened,

come to visit all your true and devoted readers here in Munich again.

May you then bring a vast amount of squirrel t-shirts (like that you gave to Mr Weidermann from „Zeit“-magazine) with you 😉

May you and your family stay unharmed and safe.

Take care.

Love and best wishes

I’ve heard it said that waging peace is as difficult as waging war. Why is this? Does not peace come simply from the absence of war? Well, when there are those who benefit from war, they will work to continue it, and so we must learn to wage peace as well.

Continued prayers for you and yours!

Great news, ttgar. But it makes all the more unjust that you and other leading Jewish Israeli writers are being deliberately boycotted by organiations like the Int'l Booker Prize which this year , appeared to make choices based not on merit but poliבד

Congratulations dear Etgar for the well deserved life achievement. What a timing!

I wonder what Henzo thinks as he is suspiciously staring at the ethnic Kilim rug?

Stay safe and keep writing from the door steps.

Boker tov. I was thinking that morning, that if all souls of jews and arabs, of muslims and israeli, may join for just less than a minutes in a unique scream at loud voice of fear and hope, I don't know, but maybe that great, in potential powerfull, overhelming sound may be listened by all the crew of politicans and...maybe by G-d also! The scream should be very simple: PEACE NOW!

Keep Safe and Shalom!

A resistant for peace, Roberto

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your beloved family, Etgar. Ironically, while the death and wounding of Israelis continues, while some run to bomb shelters as others huddle in staircases, Netanyahu, after ordering the bombing of Iran, leaves his office to attend the lavish wedding of one of his sons. So predictable.

His son’s wedding has been postponed due to the war.

Dearest Etgar and Shira, I am sending you both a gentle cosmic hug. I am horrified for you and the state of the world *I write from the USA… I shake my head and wonder, what it’s going to take for gov’t. leaders to “lead” with compassion, integrity and a moral compass, for all of humanity. May all countries find non violent resolutions to their disputes.
